On the morning of March 14, 2024, shortly after 4:00 am, an inmate at Clay County Jail suffered a medical emergency.
Deputies, medical staff, and Clay County Fire Rescue responded promptly, attempting life-saving measures. Unfortunately, these efforts were unsuccessful.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is reviewing the case, and the Medical Examiner’s Office has accepted jurisdiction.
The family has been notified, and the Clay County Sheriff’s Office expresses condolences to them during this difficult time.
