Driver Convicted of Aggravated Fleeing in High-Speed Chase

Florida State Attorney Melissa Nelson has announced that a Duval County jury found Jeis Cosme Rosario guilty of Aggravated Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Law Enforcement Officer. With the conviction, Rosario faces up to 15 years in Florida State Prison. The Honorable Tatiana Salvador will sentence her at a later date.

The incident occurred on April 20, 2024, when a Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Violent Crime Task Force officer observed Rosario driving north on Lakeshore Boulevard with illegal tint on her front windshield. The officer attempted a traffic stop, but Rosario fled, speeding down Royce Avenue and running multiple stop signs. She was clocked driving 60-70 miles per hour in a 30-mile-per-hour neighborhood.

Backup officers intercepted Rosario, and it was determined that both she and a 9-year-old passenger were not wearing seatbelts during the chase. Additionally, Rosario was found to be driving with a suspended license out of Volusia County. She was arrested on scene for Aggravated Fleeing and cited for traffic violations.

The case was investigated by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Trinity Angell Turinetti and Nicholas Salatino.
