Eight Duval County High Schools Earn National Recognition for Advanced Placement Achievement

Eight high schools in Duval County Public Schools have been recognized on the College Board’s 2023-24 Advanced Placement (AP) School Honor Roll for their outstanding AP programs. Additionally, 2,049 students across 15 schools earned AP Scholar Awards for their exceptional performance on AP exams.

AP School Honor Roll Recognition

The AP School Honor Roll evaluates schools based on three criteria:

  • College Culture: The percentage of students taking at least one AP exam.
  • College Credit: The percentage scoring 3 or higher on an AP exam.
  • College Optimization: The percentage completing five or more AP exams.

Schools can achieve Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Platinum distinctions. This year, the following Duval schools were honored:

  • Platinum with Access (for equitable access to AP programs):
    • Douglas Anderson School of the Arts
    • Paxon School for Advanced Studies
    • Samuel W. Wolfson School for Advanced Studies
    • Stanton College Preparatory
  • Platinum:
    • Darnell-Cookman Middle-High
  • Silver:
    • Fletcher High School
  • Bronze:
    • Atlantic Coast High School
    • Mandarin High School

This marks the second consecutive year all eight schools earned a spot on the honor roll.

AP Scholar Awards

The College Board also recognized over 2,000 Duval County students for exemplary performance on AP exams with the following awards:

  • AP Scholar: Scores of 3 or higher on three or more exams.
  • AP Scholar with Honor: An average score of 3.25 on all exams and scores of 3 or higher on four or more exams.
  • AP Scholar with Distinction: An average score of 3.5 on all exams and scores of 3 or higher on five or more exams.
  • AP Capstone Diploma: Scores of 3 or higher on AP Seminar, AP Research, and four additional AP exams.
  • AP Seminar and Research Certificate: Scores of 3 or higher on AP Seminar and AP Research.
