Two Arrested After Suspicious Activity in HCA Lake City Hospital Parking Lot

On Thursday, January 2, 2025, at approximately 8:11 PM, an off-duty Lake City Police Department officer working at HCA Lake City Hospital was alerted by a hospital employee about two individuals acting suspiciously in the parking lot.

The officer observed 35-year-old Ian Joseph Neunz, who is homeless, attempting to conceal himself near trees. Neunz could not explain why he was in the parking lot or why he was looking into vehicle windows.

A second individual, 33-year-old Jordan Anthony Smith of Lake City, was seen riding a bicycle in the parking lot. When the officer approached him, Smith abandoned the bicycle and fled on foot behind a hospital building. Following a brief chase, Smith was apprehended and found in possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia. He also had two outstanding warrants for Failure to Appear.

No vehicles were reported to have been broken into, as officers intervened before any burglaries occurred.

Arrests:

  • Ian Joseph Neunz: Charged with Loitering or Prowling.
  • Jordan Anthony Smith: Charged with Loitering or Prowling, Resisting Officer Without Violence, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and two warrants for Failure to Appear.

The investigation remains ongoing.
