Motorcyclist Killed in Fatal Crash on Stirling Road in Dania Beach

Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) Traffic Homicide Unit detectives are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred Monday night in Dania Beach, leaving one man dead.

At approximately 8:17 p.m. on January 13, BSO deputies, along with Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue and Hollywood Fire Rescue, responded to a report of a crash near the 2400 block of Stirling Road.

The preliminary investigation revealed that 81-year-old Frank Forque of Hollywood was driving a 2008 Nissan Altima sedan southbound, attempting to exit the Emerald Plaza parking lot onto Stirling Road. Meanwhile, 40-year-old Richard Decatur of Dania Beach was riding a 2022 Harley Davidson Sportster motorcycle westbound on Stirling Road.

Investigators say Forque failed to see Decatur’s approaching motorcycle as he entered the westbound lanes of Stirling Road. The motorcycle struck the driver’s side door of the Nissan in a T-bone collision, ejecting Decatur from his bike. He came to rest in the far-left lane of Stirling Road.

Hollywood Fire Rescue pronounced Decatur dead at the scene, while Forque was transported to Hollywood Memorial Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. He was later released.

The crash remains under investigation by BSO detectives.
