Suspect Arrested for Murder in Shooting at Gainesville Gas Station

The Gainesville Police Department has arrested Kendrick Deshaun Goss, 44, of Gainesville, Georgia, in connection with the February 10 fatal shooting on Athens Street.

Goss is accused of shooting and killing Kendrick McClendin at the Texaco gas station at 100 Athens Street following an altercation at a party. During the gunfire, a female companion of McClendin was struck in the arm.

“Athens Street was closed for a short time. It was reopened later in the day following the conclusion of our investigation at the scene, and we are grateful for the public’s understanding while that necessary work was undertaken,” said Police Chief Jay Parrish.

Goss is being held at the Hall County Jail on charges of felony murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Multiple agencies assisted in the investigation, including the Hall County Sheriff’s Office, Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Hall County District Attorney’s Office, and the FBI’s Safe Streets Task Force.
