Jax Drug Bust Seizes Fentanyl, 20 Pounds of Marijuana in Moncrief; Convicted Felon Arrested

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Jacksonville narcotics detectives seized fentanyl, methamphetamine, heroin, more than 20 pounds of marijuana and firearms during a drug bust in the Moncrief area that led to the arrest of a convicted felon, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said the investigation began after detectives observed suspected drug activity at a house near West 21st Street and Moncrief Road.

After building a case, narcotics detectives and the SWAT Team served a search warrant at the residence on March 3, 2026.

During the search, investigators seized:

  • 17.2 grams of fentanyl, which authorities said equates to more than 8,600 potentially deadly doses
  • 81.8 grams of cathinone
  • 33.4 grams of methamphetamine
  • 2.3 grams of heroin
  • 20.8 pounds of marijuana
  • A handgun and a rifle
  • More than $500 in cash

Authorities arrested 42-year-old Carlos Cooper following the search.

The sheriff’s office said Cooper is a convicted felon with multiple prior drug charges.

“This investigation removed dangerous narcotics from our streets and disrupted drug activity in the community,” the sheriff’s office said in announcing the arrest.

The case remains part of ongoing enforcement efforts targeting drug trafficking in Jacksonville.
