JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A Jacksonville woman is facing murder charges after police say she fatally shot a man early Sunday morning.
According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, District 1 patrol officers responded to a reported shooting on July 5 in the area of Calvert Street near Norwood Avenue.
When officers arrived, they found 40-year-old Robert Miller lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds.
Miller was pronounced dead from his injuries.
Detectives with the JSO Homicide Unit and Crime Scene Unit launched an investigation. After reviewing available evidence and interviewing witnesses, investigators identified 36-year-old Kala Murrell as the suspect.
Patrol officers detained Murrell near the scene shortly after the shooting.
Murrell has been arrested and charged with Murder and Tampering with Evidence. She is being held at the Duval County Jail.
The investigation remains ongoing.
