CROSS CITY, FL — A Florida man has been sentenced to life in prison following his conviction on multiple felony counts of child sexual abuse in the Third Judicial Circuit, law enforcement officials announced Thursday.
Donald Pick was sentenced on Thursday, July 30, 2026, after a six-person jury found him guilty on three counts of Lewd and Lascivious Molestation.
Concurrent Sentences and Sexual Predator Designation
During the sentencing hearing, the presiding judge handed down life imprisonment terms on two primary counts alongside a 15-year sentence on a third count:
- Count I (Lewd & Lascivious Molestation): Life in the Florida Department of Corrections
- Count II (Lewd & Lascivious Molestation): Life in the Florida Department of Corrections
- Count III (Lewd & Lascivious Molestation): 15 Years in the Florida Department of Corrections
The court ordered all three sentences to run concurrently. Additionally, Pick was officially designated as a Sexual Predator pursuant to Florida state law, placing him under mandatory lifetime registration and monitoring mandates upon any release.
Statement from Sheriff Darby Butler: Following the conclusion of the court proceedings, Dixie County Sheriff Darby Butler emphasized the department’s focus on child protection:
“There is no place in our community for anyone who victimizes a child. The Dixie County Sheriff’s Office will continue to aggressively investigate these crimes and work with our partners to ensure offenders are brought to justice. Protecting our children and our community will always remain a top priority.”
Multi-Agency Investigation and Prosecution
The successful prosecution and life sentence resulted from a joint effort between the Dixie County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division, the State Attorney’s Office for the Third Judicial Circuit, victim advocates, court personnel, and the six-person jury.
Sheriff’s officials reminded the public to report any suspected child abuse or exploitation immediately to law enforcement authorities.
