NASSAU COUNTY, Fla. – Three people have been arrested following a months-long investigation into the theft of more than $19,000 worth of baseball and construction equipment from West Nassau High School, according to the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office.
Brian Michael Moore, 37, Joshua Edward Teel, 36, and Ashley Marie Crockett, 35, are accused of conspiring to steal a dump trailer, baseball equipment and construction tools from the school’s baseball field.
The investigation began Jan. 3, 2026, after deputies responded to a reported burglary at West Nassau High School. Investigators learned a dump trailer parked near the baseball field had been stolen along with player equipment, including bats, cleats and gloves, as well as construction equipment.
Surveillance cameras captured a suspect vehicle leaving the school while towing the stolen trailer. Using Flock Safety license plate reader technology and other investigative techniques, detectives identified the vehicle as belonging to Teel’s fiancée.
The following day, Jan. 4, deputies responded to another report of suspicious activity at the school. They found a van backed up to the baseball field dugout area and located Moore and another individual nearby. Both were arrested on charges of trespassing on school property.
As the investigation continued, detectives obtained a search warrant for Moore’s cellphone. According to the sheriff’s office, text messages recovered from the device showed Moore and Teel coordinated plans to commit multiple thefts. Additional messages between Moore and Crockett, a West Nassau High School alumna, allegedly revealed Crockett helped facilitate the burglary by discussing the placement of surveillance cameras on campus.
On July 1, investigators learned the Bradford County Sheriff’s Office had located the stolen dump trailer after it was detected by Flock Safety cameras in that county. Authorities said the individuals found in possession of the trailer told investigators that Teel had asked them to sell it for cash.
“This investigation shows the value of persistence and teamwork,” Nassau County Sheriff Bill Leeper said. “These thieves didn’t just steal baseball equipment, they stole from young athletes who poured their time, effort, and passion into the game. I’m proud of the dedication and persistence our detectives showed throughout this investigation. Their hard work ensured those responsible are being held accountable.”
Moore was booked into the Nassau County Jail and Detention Center on July 29 on charges of Conspiracy to Commit Grand Theft and Misuse of a Two-Way Communications Device. He is being held on a bond exceeding $100,000.
Crockett was also booked into the Nassau County Jail and Detention Center on July 29. She is charged with Burglary of a Structure and Misuse of a Two-Way Communications Device and is being held on a bond exceeding $20,000.
Teel was already incarcerated in another county when the Nassau County charges were filed. He faces charges of Burglary, Grand Theft, Dealing in Stolen Property and Misuse of a Two-Way Communications Device. His bond on the Nassau County charges exceeds $275,000.
The investigation remains ongoing.
