ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – A 49-year-old man wanted on multiple felony charges in Brevard County was arrested Sunday evening after St. Johns County deputies stopped him during a speed enforcement operation in Nocatee.
Cipriano Mendoza-Alcon was taken into custody Sept. 27 after deputies determined he did not have a driver’s license and had several active felony warrants, according to the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office.
The outstanding Brevard County warrants charge Mendoza-Alcon with sexual battery on a minor older than 12 and younger than 18, false imprisonment and kidnapping.
SJSO said deputies initially encountered Mendoza-Alcon while conducting speed enforcement in Nocatee. He was arrested on a charge of driving without a driver’s license in addition to being held on the outstanding warrants.
The sheriff’s office also said Mendoza-Alcon is unlawfully in the United States. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement placed an immigration detainer on him following his arrest, according to SJSO.
Mendoza-Alcon was booked into the St. Johns County Jail, where he was being held without bond.
The sheriff’s office did not provide details about the Brevard County case, including when or where the alleged offenses occurred, the circumstances surrounding the kidnapping and false imprisonment allegations, or Mendoza-Alcon’s relationship to the minor.
