FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. — A 38-year-old woman wanted in Flagler County for probation violations was arrested in Hawaii after investigators discovered she had moved to the islands, gotten married and changed her last name, according to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO).
Ashley Beams, 38, who now goes by Ashley Thomas, was arrested October 20, 2026, by the Hawaii Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Service following a coordinated investigation.
Beams had been wanted since October 2025 on two arrest warrants for violating probation stemming from previous arrests involving burglary, grand theft and possession of methamphetamine.
Detectives Track Fugitive to Hawaii
According to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office, detectives searching for Beams learned that she had fled Florida and relocated to Hawaii.
Investigators also discovered that Beams had married and changed her last name to Thomas while living there.
After identifying her whereabouts, the FCSO Fugitive Apprehension Unit and Special Investigations Unit coordinated with law enforcement agencies in Hawaii to arrange her arrest.
On October 20, officers with the Hawaii Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Service located and arrested Beams.
The arrest ended nearly a year of efforts to locate her.
Sheriff Rick Staly Warns Fugitives They Cannot Escape Justice
Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly praised the investigation and the cooperation between law enforcement agencies that led to Beams’ capture.
“The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office doesn’t give up, and the long arm of the law is truly limitless, extending even to the islands of Hawaii,” Staly said.
“You can run, you can change your name, and you can try all kinds of other tricks, but fugitives from justice should learn that you can never stop looking over your shoulder. FCSO will find you and fly you back to Florida to face justice.”
Awaiting Extradition to Flagler County
Beams is being held at the East Hawaii Detention Facility while awaiting extradition to Flagler County, Florida, where she faces the outstanding probation-violation warrants.
