Investigators Seek Leads in Fatal Pedestrian Crash on Jacksonville’s Westside

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) is actively seeking tips regarding a fatal crash that occurred on Jacksonville’s Westside in the early hours of July 26. Traffic Homicide Detectives are investigating the death of a 29-year-old pedestrian who was struck on Collins Road near Shindler Drive.

While the driver of a pickup truck that collided with the man remained on the scene and cooperated with law enforcement, evidence indicates that the pedestrian may have been hit by other vehicles prior to the arrival of the pickup truck. Surveillance footage captured two dark-colored vehicles in the vicinity shortly before the pickup truck incident.

Despite receiving and investigating multiple leads since releasing the surveillance video, JSO has yet to identify the drivers of the other vehicles involved. “The guilt has to be overwhelming, and the family would like closure,” stated Sgt. Robert Hungerford, appealing for assistance in providing answers to the grieving family.

Authorities urge anyone with information about the crash to come forward. Individuals can contact JSO at 904-630-0500 or submit tips anonymously to First Coast Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS (8477).
