Motorcyclist dies, passenger in critical condition following crash on Blanding Boulevard: FHP

A 39-year-old man driving a motorcycle died after hitting two cars on Blanding Boulevard in Clay County Monday evening, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

FHP said the motorcyclist was driving southbound on State Road 21, also known as Blanding Boulevard, when he attempted to pass other traffic ahead in front of it.

While passing, the motorcyclist crashed with the left side of an SUV driving northbound, according to the FHP report.

Then, the motorcyclist hit the left read of a pickup truck driving southbound.

According to FHP, the motorcyclist and the passenger, a 33-year-old woman from Jacksonville, were ejected off the motorcycle into the roadway.

The motorcycle ultimately ended in the ditch on the right northbound shoulder, according to FHP.

The motorcyclist, from Middleburg, died on scene. The passenger was transported to the hospital with critical injuries, according to the FHP report.

The drivers and passengers of the other two cars involved in this incident suffered no injuries.

According to the report, neither the motorcyclist nor the passenger was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
