FHP trooper killed in crash on I-95 while trying to detain a fleeing felon in St. Lucie County

A Florida Highway Patrol trooper was killed Friday morning in a crash on Interstate 95 near Port St. Lucie, Clickorlando.com reported.

FHP Trooper Zachary Fink died in a wreck with a semitrailer on I-95 north at Crosstown Parkway near Port St. Lucie, according to authorities.

One person has been detained in relation to the investigation according to Port St. Lucie police.

“Our hearts go out to the family of FHP Trooper Zachary Fink, who was killed in the line of duty while attempting to detain a fleeing felon in St. Lucie County,” Governor Ron DeSantis said in a post online.

Florida Highway Patrol says Trooper Fink worked in Brevard County from Dec. 2020 to Jan. 2023.
