TELL US: Without saying what apartment complex you live in, tell us if you feel safe or unsafe living there and why

In a special report, the News4JAX I-TEAM looked into whether criminals, property owners or both are responsible for crimes on a property. We went through crime reports at apartments in 2023 and found 46 people shot, and 23 killed by gunfire.

We also reported on House Bill 837. It’s a law eliminating long-standing consumer protections related to negligence and insurance lawsuits. One change says apartment owners who implement “crime prevention through environmental design” can reduce their risk of liability for crimes against tenants on their property.
