Florida Man in Custody After Carjacking and High-Speed Chase Ends in Collier County

A suspect is in custody following a carjacking and pursuit that spanned multiple counties on Thursday, January 16, 2025.

Fritzen Paul, 40, of Lauderhill, Florida, faces charges in Collier County for carjacking and fleeing and eluding law enforcement, along with additional charges in Lee County for crimes committed earlier that day.

According to authorities, Paul abandoned a Nissan Sentra he was driving and carjacked a couple in the Mariposa community in Naples, forcibly taking their gray Mazda CX-5. He then led deputies on a high-speed pursuit, which ended near the I-75 toll plaza at Exit 101.

Deputies performed a Precision Immobilization Technique (P.I.T.) maneuver, successfully stopping the Mazda. Paul fled on foot toward a fence along the roadway, but as he attempted to climb the fence, a marked Collier County Sheriff’s Office vehicle struck it. Paul fell from the fence and was immediately taken into custody.

The carjacked couple was not injured during the incident. Paul was transported to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities in both Collier and Lee counties are coordinating as the investigation continues.
