Suspect Flees from Deputies in Englewood, Considered Armed and Dangerous

On Sunday, January 26, 2025, at approximately 8:30 p.m., the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office responded to a tip that a wanted individual, Jacques K. Gentis, was hiding at a residence in Englewood. Deputies attempted to arrest the 20-year-old Gentis, but he fled on foot when approached. During the pursuit, a deputy discharged a single shot, but no injuries were reported.

Gentis is wanted by the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office on several charges, including armed burglary, criminal mischief, and grand theft. Additionally, he has two bench warrants for failure to appear in court, with charges involving armed burglary, firing a weapon into a dwelling, and possession of controlled substances.

Law enforcement officials consider Gentis to be armed and dangerous. An active search is ongoing as authorities work to locate and apprehend him.
