Second Suspect Arrested in Clay County Targeted Shooting Near Soccer Fields

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office has arrested the second and final suspect involved in the targeted shooting near the soccer fields in Oakleaf Plantation.

16-year-old Elliot Grijota, of Jacksonville, was arrested on February 27, 2025, and charged with three counts of attempted murder. He has been transferred to the Duval Regional Juvenile Detention Center.

This arrest follows the previous arrest of 18-year-old Behrend Ludwig, also of Jacksonville, who was identified as the shooter. Ludwig was arrested on February 22, 2025, and faces three counts of attempted murder.

The shooting occurred on February 21, 2025, around 5:45 p.m. near Silver Bluff Blvd and Plantation Oaks Blvd. A juvenile victim was shot and taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The victim and suspects were known to each other and had been involved in a prior altercation.

The arrests conclude the Sheriff’s Office investigation, and the case will now be turned over to the State Attorney’s Office.

“Crime of any sort will never be welcomed and never be tolerated in Clay County. The two suspects in this case had absolutely no regard for human life and their heinous, violent actions put innocent families and children in harm’s way. The safety of our community is my top priority, and we’re committed to holding criminals accountable for their actions. I’d like to thank our community for providing pertinent information at the time of the incident, and to our deputies and investigators for their swift actions. I’m extremely grateful for their hard work and determination to keep our community safe,” stated Sheriff Michelle Cook.
