A 26-year-old woman has been arrested and charged with First-Degree Murder following the death of her 3-month-old child in December 2024.
On December 13, deputies with the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home on Meriden Avenue after receiving a report of an unresponsive infant. Paramedics transported the child to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Detectives determined the child had suffered multiple brain bleeds and a large skull fracture. The Medical Examiner ruled the cause of death to be blunt head trauma. Investigators learned that the infant had been in the care of her mother, Tess Britt, at the time the injuries occurred.
Following months of investigation, detectives arrested Britt on March 6, 2025, charging her with First-Degree Murder. She was transported to the Pinellas County Jail.
The investigation remains ongoing.
