Gainesville Police Department (GPD) is seeking public assistance in identifying suspect(s) who abandoned an 8-week-old poodle in the Publix parking lot located at 3720 NW 13th Street. The incident occurred on June 3, 2025, at approximately 9:55 AM.
Surveillance footage from Publix captured the suspect(s) arriving and leaving in a gold Toyota Camry. The vehicle has noticeable damage on the driver’s side door and rear panel area. One of the suspects appears to be a light-skinned younger Black male.
As of June 4, 2025, the abandoned puppy is in critical condition and may not survive. The dog was found unresponsive, locked inside a crate with no food or water, and is suffering from an unknown virus or toxin, which authorities believe progressed due to neglect.
