JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. — A routine traffic stop early Saturday morning led to the arrest of two individuals after officers discovered marijuana and related items inside a vehicle.

According to the Jacksonville Beach Police Department, officers conducted a stop around 2:50 a.m. April 25, 2026, on a vehicle leaving the Latham Parking Lot due to missing brake lights. The stop took place in a nearby Publix parking lot.

Police identified the driver as 22-year-old Derion Andre Hubbard, who was found to be operating the vehicle without a valid driver’s license and had never been issued one. Officers also detected a strong odor of marijuana and observed loose marijuana inside the vehicle. Hubbard was found in possession of approximately 9.4 grams of marijuana and about $800 in cash.

The passenger and registered owner of the vehicle, 20-year-old Nicolas Adrian Bernal-Sellers, was also removed from the vehicle during the stop.
