VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — A 23-year-old man has been sentenced to decades in prison after a jury convicted him of sexually abusing a minor.
During a hearing on April 24, 2026, Michael Anthony Strout was sentenced to 45 years in prison, followed by lifetime sex offender probation. He will also be designated as a sexual predator.
The sentence follows a March conviction by a Volusia County jury, which found Strout guilty of sexual battery on a minor between the ages of 12 and 18 by a person in familial or custodial authority.
According to prosecutors, the sentence will run consecutive to a separate 10-year sentence Strout is already serving for a violation of probation.
State Attorney R.J. Larizza said the case reflects the role of prosecutors in protecting the community.
“This is another example of your prosecutors protecting you and your family,” Larizza said. “It is our solemn duty and our pleasure.”
The Daytona Beach Police Department investigated the case.
Assistant State Attorney Helen Schwartz prosecuted the case, and Elizabeth Blackburn presided over the sentencing.
