Zephyrhills Man Arrested After FDLE Finds More Than 1,000 Child Abuse Files

NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. — A Zephyrhills man was arrested after Florida investigators allegedly discovered more than 1,000 files containing child sexual abuse material during a search of his home, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE).

Authorities said 36-year-old Joseph Scott Dearborn was arrested on 15 counts of possession of child sexual abuse material and one count of promotion of a sexual performance by a child. All charges are second-degree felonies.

Investigators said the arrest was part of FDLE’s statewide initiative targeting individuals accused of sharing and distributing child sexual abuse material online.

According to FDLE, agents launched an undercover investigation in January 2026 aimed at identifying people actively distributing child sexual abuse files.

During the operation, agents identified an IP address allegedly linked to Dearborn’s residence in Zephyrhills. Investigators said several files were shared through the account, including videos promoting the sexual performance of a minor.

On May 13, 2026, agents executed a search warrant at Dearborn’s residence and seized multiple electronic devices.

Authorities said an initial forensic review uncovered more than 1,000 files containing child sexual abuse material.

Dearborn was arrested and booked into the Pasco County Jail on a $400,000 bond.

The case is being prosecuted by the Office of Statewide Prosecution under James Uthmeier.

Officials said the investigation remains active.
