The first mural featured on “Mural Monday” was the painting of Bill Murray in Murray Hill on the side of an 80-foot wall on Plymouth Street.

The second mural News4JAX featured was located at The Bearded Pig location in San Marco at 1808 Kings Ave. (Artist: Chip Southworth)
This mural, by Bono Paints, is featured outside of Setlan Coffee at Union Hall San Marco. (1435 Naldo Ave) The photo was taken by Mitch Wiisanen.
Local artist Mary Joan Hinson was commissioned to create the mural by Dr. Rene Pulido on the side of the Emed Multispecialty Group’s building at 2624 Atlantic Boulevard, at the corner of Atlantic and Ridgewood Plaza.

Artist Guido van Helten paints Jacksonville residents in “Unity” mural | Location: Talleyrand
This stunning mural was created by Australian artist Guido van Helten in 2016. The mural was painted on the 150-foot-tall towers at Lafarge North America Cement in Talleyrand. Fun fact: It only took him only 4½ days to finish. He told Times-Union photographer Bob Self that was “probably the fastest I’ve ever painted.” (Photo: @CDMason_Productions)

News4JAX has been informed that the Greetings From Duval mural is no longer at this location.
It’s a larger-than-life mural located at TIAA Bank Field that screams Duval County… literally.
The Jaguars and Axalta partnered in 2018 to add more color to the Jaguars stadium. One of the additions was this mural located in the southwest corner near sections 103 and 203.
The goal of this partnership was to express the pride and passion of Jaguars fans in a unique, creative presentation, the Jaguars said.
Amy Arts Jax submit this mural located at the Phillips & Hunt building on North Laura Street. The mural was painted earlier this year for Black History Month by Artist Amy Stump.
Welcome to Springfield! Artist Grant Thornton brought this mural to Jacksonville in 2017. The mural lives on the side of Brick and Beam at 1101 Main St N.
The mural has been nicknamed the “Welcome Mat of Springfield.”

There is a stunning mural in the Murray Hill area! It’s “The Barking Lot” mural located on McDuff Avenue!

We are featuring a 2,000-square-foot mural that lives on the front of The Museum of Science & History building located on the Southbank Riverwalk. The mural depicts an astronaut in space, prehistoric Florida, microorganisms and more.
The artist, Shaun Thurston, wanted people to know what they are walking into — calling it “a place of activity and learning” in an interview with the Florida Times-Union. It took Thurston three weeks to complete.
Thurston’s work can also be seen in Downtown Jacksonville, Riverside and Jacksonville Beach.

Check out this SnapJAX submission from user “Raven” of the silver flyer mural on North Davis Street. The mural was created by Bik Ismo. Muralist and graffiti artist BIK ISMO is originally from Puerto Rico and is known as “The Chrome Master.” Location: 115 N. Davis St.
Mooooo! A new set of murals has been completed in Jacksonville under the Acosta Bridge. Artist David Nackashi drew inspiration from Jacksonville’s history. During the 18th century, Jacksonville was a British settlement. Its original name was Cowford.
“Downtown vision and the downtown dwellers made it happen through grants,” Nackashi said.

Those in downtown Jacksonville should make a pitstop to see this photography installation by Celso Gonzalez. The mural resides on the outside of the Jessie Ball duPont Center at 40 E Adams Street. The artwork features two men by the names of Rutledge Pearson and Rodney L Hurst.
Rutledge Pearson was an educator, civil rights leader and human rights activist. He also was a Negro league baseball player in his early years. In 1961, he was elected President of the Jacksonville Branch of the NAACP. He was later elected President of the Florida State Conference of the NAACP. As a president, he supported the civil rights efforts in nearby St. Augustine that led to the passage of the landmark Civil Rights Act of 1964.
Rodney L. Hurst is a civil rights activist, a Black historian, an NAACP Life Member, an author, and a United States Air Force veteran. He is the award-winning author of three books, It was never about a hot dog and a Coke®! A personal account of the 1960 sit-in demonstrations in Jacksonville, Florida, and Ax Handle Saturday; Unless WE Tell It…It Never Gets Told!; and Never Forget Who You Are: Conversations about Racism and Identity Development, which he co-authored with Dr. Rudy F. Jamison Jr.

Today’s Mural Monday highlights artwork and a sculpture in St. Johns County!
This is the Blue Bird of Happiness — a giant bird sculpture that reads “Happiness is Vilano Beach, Florida.” It’s located on the Vilano Beach Fishing Pier. It was originally located at a citrus shop in St. Augustine in the early 1970s — part of a Florida advertising campaign. A blue mural that resembles the waves in the ocean can also be spotted going all the way down the pier. The pier offers free access to sightseeing and fishing. Other sculptures on the pier include three life-size dolphins. Ed Genaux submit this mural on SnapJAX.
Check out the mural at the Freedom Lanes Bowling Alley! Local artist Mary Joan Hinson was commissioned by the Naval Air Station Jacksonville (NAS Jax) Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Department to create a mural depicting scenes from around the station. Hinson used acrylic paints applied through many different techniques such as brushes, sponges, spray cans, and even fingers to get the look she wants.
