Heat is back but storms are gone

Temps will reach about 96 in most areas this afternoon but the humidity is lower which is why we are not under a heat advisory. Regardless the drier air will still be very hot without any chance of rain. Storms will be confined to areas south of Palatka into central Florida today.

The feels like index tops out at 102° compared to 108° yesterday. Advisories may return when the heat worsens this weekend.

10 Days of heat unmatched since 2010. Our “10-10 Heatwave” began 3 days ago. We are at Day 4 of a 10 day heat wave with temps 95° or higher-the longest consecutive stretch of heat at or above 95° in JAX since 2010.

The next good chance for rain is Sunday with showers and afternoon storms through Independence Day.
