Duval County Public Schools released a video on its social media accounts Monday of Highlands Elementary School being demolished. A new school will open in 2024 thanks to the half-penny sales tax.
Students are temporarily attending school on the Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School campus for the 2023-24 school year.
Excited to announce a major step forward: the demolition of the old to make way for the new.

The new school is expected to open in time for the 2024-25 school year.
