A man is dead after a crash Monday evening crash on Jacksonville’s westside, police said.
A black sedan was headed west on Commonwealth Avenue around 6:45 p.m., the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said. A blue pickup truck was driving south on Jones Road when the sedan pulled out in front of the vehicle, resulting in the collision, the sheriff’s office said.
The pick-up truck driver suffered minor injuries and remained on the scene to talk with police. The sedan driver was taken to the hospital, where he died.
Police said Jones Road to Pritchard Road is closed for another two hours as the investigation is ongoing.
This makes the 89th traffic fatality in Duval County.
