Storms weaken for tonight, more to come Thursday

A line of intense thunderstorms will continue to slowly drift toward the beaches from Highway 17, I-95 and downtown Jacksonville.  Thunderstorms will continue to weaken as our temperatures cool for the evening.  Gusty wind, frequent lightning and gusty winds will be the main hazards through around 8 p.m.

A short and hot workweek ahead.  Today’s temperatures ticked all of the boxes for another Heat Advisory.  Temperatures will be close to the criteria again tomorrow.  The other notable change will be the return of daily rounds of showers and storms, 50-70 percent.

Tonight:  Heat Advisory expires at 7:00 p.m.  Showers will fade across late tonight. 10 p.m. – 12 a.m.  Partly cloudy and warm tonight with patchy inland fog.  Temperatures will hover in the 80s.

Thursday:  Hot, but no heat advisories.  Hot and humid with morning lows in the mid to upper 70s.    Highs in the 90s with a heat index of 103 to 108 degrees.  Wind SW/SE 10-15 mph.  Scattered showers with storms starting around 2 p.m., 50-70 percent.

Looking ahead.  Scattered thunderstorms with hot and humid conditions through the weekend.
