A day of rain before days of dry weather ahead

A summer cold front will bring a taste of fall after a month of 90 degree heat.

Brief rain this morning is pushing across the area within steamy humid and mostly cloudy conditions. Rain will shift inland with some heavy downpours this afternoon and evening. A 50% chance of rain targets areas west of the St. Johns River early this afternoon. By the evening heavier storms shift mainly west of Highway 301 into the evening.

That’s it for rain this weekend as dry air settles in and you enjoy a drop in humidity. Highs stay in the mid 80s with breezy NE winds. Temps climb into the upper 80s Labor Day with heat returning next week in the low to mid 90s.
