A man in his mid-20s was shot multiple times early Tuesday morning in the Brentwood area, Jacksonville police said.
Officers were first called to the area around 1 a.m. after ShotSpotter registered gunfire on Woodbine Street.
They found the man in the roadway suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, including at least one to the chest.
He was taken to a hospital where he was last listed in serious condition.
Investigators said the motive and suspects are unknown, and they are still working to verify the identity of the man who was shot.
