An 84-year-old man was killed in Clay County after a crash that closed all lanes of the Shands Bridge on Monday afternoon.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the man was driving west of the bridge in a red pickup truck on State Road 16 when a 23-year-old woman driving a gray sports utility vehicle was traveling east on SR-19 around 6 p.m.
For unknown reasons, the pickup truck driver crossed the center line and came into the SUV’s path of travel, FHP said. After crashing into the SUV, a third vehicle collided with debris from the crash.
The woman suffered serious injuries. The man died on the scene, and the third driver was uninjured.
