WWE throws shade at Khan family over Jaguars playoff loss

Shortly after the Jacksonville Jaguars lost and were knocked out of the NFL playoffs, World Wrestling Entertainment was quick to mock the loss on X (formerly Twitter). WWE’s primary competition in the world of professional wrestling is Jacksonville-base All Elite Wrestling (AEW) which is owned by the Khan family. Shad Khan owns the Jaguars, his son Tony Khan owns AEW. In fact, the younger Khan just appeared on the Going Ringside podcast to discuss his wrestling company.

Here’s the post on X by the Jaguars advertising where to buy playoff tickets that was of course posted before their loss:

Playoff tickets are on sale now! 🎟️@dailys_dash | #DUUUVAL

Here’s the post on X by the WWEonFox account. The post shows a GIF of wrestling legend Kurt Angle appearing to mock the Jaguars’ post.

The Going Ringside podcast was quick to notice this on their Tiktok Channel:

@goingringside

So @WWE just threw shade at @AEWonTV owner #tonykhan after his #nflfootball team the #jacksonvillejaguars lose #goingringside #wrestletok #sportsontiktok #aew #wweonfox #wwe

Both AEW and WWE may find themselves jostling for position on major broadcast and cable networks in 2024 as multiple media deals for the two companies are set to expire. Khan spoke about this in depth on the recent Going Ringside episode.
