Rain with storms tonight, Increasing Risk of Severe Storms Tuesday

Cloudy and cool with areas of light rain south of I-10.  Rain with thunderstorms will continue to spread through the forecast area this evening and overnight.  Scatted showers with isolated storms are possible early Tuesday with rapidly deteriorating conditions as the squall line approaches from the west.  The strongest risk of severe storms will be from around noon through early evening.

Now:  Cloudy and cool with showers, light rain south of I-10

Tonight:  Rain with embedded storms.

Tuesday:  A quick moving cold front and squall line will push through the area tomorrow afternoon with the worst of the weather expected between noon and 6 p.m.  Damaging wind, Tornadoes and hail will be possible,  Morning lows in the 50s.  Afternoon highs in the 70s.  Wind SW 20-25 mph with gusts of 40 mph plus.  Breezy and clearing late Tuesday night.

Storm Timeline:

Sunrise through 11 a.m.: Scattered showers, storms.

12 p.m. – 2 p.m.: Lake City to Waycross

2 p.m. – 4 p.m.: Gainesville to Brunswick, I-75, I-10 and I-95.

4 p.m. – 6 p.m. I-95 to the beaches.

6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Front moves offshore, scattered showers slowly end.

Hazards:  Squall line with strong to severe storms that will include wind, hail and the possibility of tornadoes.

Looking ahead:  Cooler temperatures behind the front with another rain producing front expected Friday.
