3 hit, 1 killed when fight spills into street on Jacksonville’s Northside: JSO

A man died and two other people were seriously injured after a fight spilled into traffic on Jacksonville’s Northside early Tuesday, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

Police said two men and a woman were involved in an altercation around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday that ended in the roadway on Starratt Road when a two-door Chevrolet struck all three of them.

One of the men, who is in his mid-30s, died at the scene. The other two pedestrians were transported to a local hospital with serious non-life-threatening injuries.

According to police, the car driver was not involved in the fight and is cooperating with detectives. There were no signs of impairment, police said.

This marks the sixth traffic fatality in Duval County this year.
