Man in his late 30s shot after domestic argument, possible self-defense, JSO says

A Jacksonville man in his late 30s was shot on Sunday morning shortly after midnight on Broward Road after a domestic argument. Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said he may have been shot in self-defense.

Police said the bullet grazed him and the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department transported the man to the hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

JSO Sgt. Karen Dukes said no arrests have been made and no charges are pending as they are still investigating.

“We have interviewed the suspect and we have interviewed the victim. There is a possibility in the situation that there could be a self-defense claim and we want to make sure that we explore that thoroughly before we add any charges,” Dukes said.

She also said there are no outstanding suspects.
