Members of the St. Johns Sheriff’s Office and workers from other agencies responded to St. Augustine Beach after a small whale washed up in the sand.

WARNING: This photos may be disturbing.

According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, the 6-foot female sperm whale had abrasions from the sand, but there was no evidence of human impact.

FFWCC says that she had a stomach that was full of parasitic worms.

The sperm whale was sedated and humanely euthanized.

A necropsy is pending.
