A 72-year-old man was seriously injured on Tuesday when a train engine towing multiple cars collided with his SUV, which was parked on a Clay County railroad track.
The collision happened at 10:15 p.m. Tuesday right off Allen Lane in Orange Park.
The driver, who is from Orange Park, was not wearing a seat belt, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The initial collision sent the SUV spinning and it hit the side of the train and was forced off the track into the nearby gravel.
The Amtrack train engine managed to stay on the tracks.
