Man convicted of first-degree murder in 2018 death of 5-year-old

Jonte Harris was convicted of first-degree murder in the 2018 death of 5-year-old Zykeria Robinson after a four-day trial.

Robinson died in Oct. 2018 after police said she was found unresponsive from multiple injuries while in the care of her mother, Michelle Cannimore, and Harris, her mother’s boyfriend. An arrest report said the mother admitted Harris had abused the girl since August and that he hit her repeatedly until she became unconscious.

Cannimore pleaded guilty to aggravated manslaughter in 2019.

She also testified against Harris during the trial.

Harris faces life in prison without parole when he’s sentenced.
