All northbound lanes of Interstate 295 North were closed around 11 a.m. after a semi-truck went off an overpass and crashed onto the railroad tracks below at Pickettville Road.
The impact damaged the tracks and the driver was rushed to the hospital with critical injuries, according to the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department.
No other vehicles were involved.
One lane of traffic was reopened around noon but traffic in the area was slow going.
Some of the traffic was being diverted to Commonwealth Avenue.
No other details were immediately available.
