A mother is recovering in a local hospital on Monday following a hit-and-run crash in Arlington that took the life of her 6-year-old daughter and left another one of her daughters injured.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said someone driving a light-colored sedan forced Rebecca Louis off the road where she then crashed into a wooden telephone pole. The impact killed her daughter, Crystal Lackey.
The family created a GoFundMe page to pay for the funeral of Lackey and help with the medical expenses of Louis.
“Becca is a bright, happy, caring, very talented young mother who was on her way home from her job,” the family said in the page’s description.
The post also said that Louis is in the ICU after losing one daughter and her other daughter is in recovery.

One couple who walks regularly along Merrill Road said traffic speeds through there a lot.
“[I’m not really surprised] it’s very busy around here,” Arthur Parks said.
“Look at how fast people go so things like that happen,” Monica Parks said. “It’s tragic, a small little child. Very, very sad.”
Now this family’s concern is the young mother, her surviving child, and finding the driver who caused this tragedy.
