Arrest Made in Bradford Street Woman’s Murder Case

On Thursday, June 6, 2024, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a shooting in the 2300 block of Bradford Street. Patrol officers arrived to find an adult female, later identified as Yolanda Sturdivant, 53, with a gunshot wound. Despite efforts by the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department, Sturdivant was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Following the incident, the JSO Homicide Team #2 and members of the Crime Scene Unit launched investigations. Through a review of evidence and interviews, a suspect was swiftly identified. Bobby Simpson, 57, was subsequently arrested on charges of Murder, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Tampering with Evidence.
