Woman Pleads Guilty to Attempted Murder After Parking Lot Shooting in Jacksonville

Zakeeyah Taneajah-Shanaa Sadler has pleaded guilty to one count of Attempted Second-Degree Murder following a violent confrontation in a Jacksonville parking lot. Sadler now faces a potential prison sentence ranging from 10 to 25 years, with sentencing by the Honorable Judge London Kite scheduled at a later date.

The incident took place on September 24, 2022, when Sadler and a friend met with her child’s father in a store parking lot. He was accompanied by their child and his two other children and had asked Sadler to take the children to an event. A heated argument ensued between Sadler and her child’s father, escalating into a physical altercation. During the fight, one of his children, a 16-year-old, stood outside the vehicle. Sadler then returned to her car, retrieved a gun, and fired a shot, hitting the teen in the foot. She subsequently pointed the firearm at her child’s father, with a bullet striking him in the arm and also injuring her friend, who was nearby.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office investigated the case, and Assistant State Attorney Katherina Brown prosecuted.
