Jacksonville Beach Woman Sentenced to 35 Years for 2023 Fatal Shooting

A Jacksonville Beach woman has been sentenced to 35 years in prison for her involvement in a fatal shooting that occurred on September 24, 2023.

The investigation began after a victim was found deceased in the 100 block of 4th Avenue North. Detectives identified Akiyah D. Price as the shooter. The following day, on September 25, 2023, Jacksonville Beach Police Department’s General Investigations Unit and SWAT team arrested Price at her residence without incident. She was charged with 2nd Degree Murder under Florida Statute 782.04(2).

On September 19, 2024, Price pled guilty to the charge, agreeing to a sentence range of 10 to 40 years. On November 15, 2024, she was sentenced to 35 years in prison, followed by five years of probation and community-controlled supervision.

The Jacksonville Beach Police Department commended the efforts of its General Investigations Team, Crime Scene Investigators, SWAT team, and patrol officers in resolving the case.
