On Monday, December 2, 2024, at approximately 1:10 p.m., Lake City Police officers responded to a complaint of a naked individual near West US Highway 90 and NW Bascom Norris Drive.
Officers found the man, later identified as 48-year-old Damion Wayne Metcalfe of West Palm Beach, outside Lake City Mall. Metcalfe initially refused to provide his name, claiming he had forgotten it. He admitted to using drugs and stated he had hit his head before encountering law enforcement.
Emergency Medical Services transported Metcalfe to HCA Lake City Hospital for evaluation and treatment. After being discharged, officers informed Metcalfe that he was being arrested for refusing to identify himself and for indecent exposure.
At that moment, Metcalfe began yelling, stating he remembered his name and provided his full identification details, including his date of birth.
Metcalfe was taken into custody and charged with Indecent Exposure of Sexual Organs and Resisting an Officer without Violence for failing to identify himself. His bond was set at $2,000.
