Duval County Woman Found Guilty of Aggravated Battery and Firearm Possession

State Attorney Melissa Nelson announced that 57-year-old Carla Temere Hill was found guilty by a Duval County jury of Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. Hill now faces up to life in Florida State Prison. Sentencing will be handled by the Honorable London Kite at a later date.

The charges stem from an incident on June 16, 2024, when Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a shooting at 8 p.m. on Grothe Street. The victim was found with a gunshot wound that shattered his leg. According to witnesses, Hill approached the victim, fired several gunshots at him as he hid behind a telephone pole, and fled the scene on a bike. Additional witnesses corroborated the events and provided police with Hill’s home address.

The victim identified Hill as the shooter after he was able to speak with law enforcement. Two days later, Hill was arrested. As a convicted felon, Hill is prohibited from possessing a firearm, and she later admitted to both her felony status and firing shots at the victim.

The case was investigated by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Jalisa Curtis and Carleshia Jimerson.
