A Lake County deputy attempted to stop a speeding driver on December 7th, 2024, near the intersection of US Hwy 441 and State Road 46. The driver, later identified as 34-year-old Jeremy Fountain, fled the scene at a high rate of speed.
Fountain subsequently crashed his vehicle in Tavares and fled on foot. Law enforcement officers from multiple agencies, including the Lake County Street Crimes Unit, Tavares PD, and Mount Dora PD, established a perimeter.
With the assistance of Lake County Aviation, officers located Fountain hiding in a nearby wooded area. A Lake County K-9 unit apprehended the suspect.
Investigation revealed that Fountain had never possessed a driver’s license and that he had fled the initial traffic stop because the vehicle was stolen.
Fountain was arrested and transported to the Lake County Jail on multiple charges.
