On Tuesday December 10, 2024, 30-year-old Travis Bryant accepted a plea agreement and was sentenced to 10 years of incarceration, followed by sex offender probation. The plea agreement and sentence was based on 11 counts of child exploitation offenses that Bryant was charged with.
Bryant’s sentencing stemmed from his February 2024 arrest for 10 counts of possession of child pornography, and one (1) count of transmitting child pornography.
The investigation was the result of a NCMEC (National Center for Missing & Exploited Children) CyberTip from a cloud storage provider. During Bryant’s interview he admitted that the account in question, which uploaded and stored CSAM (Child Sexual Abuse Material), was his. Bryant also stated that he was viewing and saving “abusive” material of young pubescent children which he found on Instagram.
A complete forensic analysis of Bryant’s electronic devices revealed over 3,000 images/videos of child sexual abuse material which included the sexual abuse of infants and toddlers.
The Gainesville Police Department wants parents to be aware that children are being solicited and exploited through social networking and messaging apps. These apps, like Facebook, KiK, Snapchat, TikTok and Instagram are also used to share images and videos which depict young children being sexually abused. Please be vigilant and aware of any social networking platforms your children may access.
