A man wanted for allegedly firing a gun into the home of a pregnant woman in Osceola County was arrested on Tuesday, December 10, after attempting to flee from law enforcement in Charlotte County. The suspect, 25-year-old David Gomez-Posso, was driving a green 2016 Toyota Camry with Florida tag CP231 when deputies were alerted that he was entering the county.
Gomez-Posso, who had reportedly made threats about getting into a shootout with law enforcement if they tried to arrest him, fled the scene when deputies attempted to pull him over. After pulling into a gas station parking lot, he reversed the vehicle and fled back onto Kings Highway before heading southbound on I-75. Deputies, along with Florida Highway Patrol, pursued him. As Gomez-Posso tried to exit the interstate at Tuckers Grade (mile marker 158), he lost control of the vehicle due to his speed and crashed.
At the crash site, FHP troopers and Charlotte County deputies ordered Gomez-Posso to exit the vehicle. He complied and was taken into custody on charges from CCSO for fleeing or attempting to elude law enforcement with wanton disregard. He will also face the original charges out of Osceola County.
Gomez-Posso is being held at the Charlotte County Jail without bond.
“This individual is another example of someone who simply refuses to get his life together. We arrested him back in 2020 for battery, then again in 2021 for drug and firearm-related charges. That’s just here in Charlotte County… The confusing thing is why he would even think to come here after fleeing his cowardly act in Osceola; he should certainly know that CCSO always gets our suspect,” said Sheriff Bill Prummell.
