Two Dead, One Injured in Christmas Night Shooting in Palatka

On Wednesday, December 25, 2024, at approximately 9:40 p.m., officers with the Palatka Police Department responded to the 100 Block of North 19th Street regarding a large crowd gathered in a parking lot.

While clearing the area, officers heard gunshots coming from the vicinity of the Palatka Daily News building in the 1800 Block of St. Johns Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered three individuals had been shot. One victim was pronounced dead at the scene, and a second died after being transported to the hospital. A third victim remains in critical condition at a trauma center.

Authorities are withholding the identities of the deceased and injured until next of kin are notified.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement Crime Scene Unit and the State Attorney’s Office Homicide Investigative Unit are assisting with the investigation.
